Empowering Women

In January 2011, local entrepreneur and fellow Boys and Girls Club board member, Janey Cooke, contacted me about creating a logo for an annual fundraising event called Empowering Women. She wanted the initials EW to be prominent, bold, and "very curly." The full name was to be in a classy, feminine script. The color had to be black with a hint of silver.

I decided to go with making the initials form a unique shape that resembled both a flower and a person with hands raised (as if feeling empowered or free). When I sent the completed concept to Janey to ask if I was close to what she was looking for, her reply was clear:

"YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES !!I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS PERFECT!"

I'd say that's a win.
